Dr. Vasilas decided at the age of three that she was to become a veterinarian! As she grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and Kobe, Japan, much of her life revolved around animals in one form or another whether it was pet sitting, volunteering at a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center or working as a veterinary technician. In May of 2010, Dr. Vasilas graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and began her veterinary career in Temecula and then Oceanside, CA. She then became the proud owner of Fire Mountain Veterinary Hospital in 2016. She is currently an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association and the United States Department of Agriculture. Dr. Vasilas lives in Carlsbad with her husband, Ray and their dogs Angus and Berger. They enjoy spending time outdoors running, fishing and being with friends and family.
Meet Dr. Massey, our newest doctor here at Fire Mountain Veterinary Hospital! Dr Massey found his love of veterinary medicine during his first year of undergraduate studies at U.C. Davis. He was fortunate to have several opportunities to volunteer and work in and around the teaching hospital while he studied Animal Science. As a veterinary assistant and technician, he worked with a variety of species from reptiles, birds, and pocket pets to horses, cattle, and livestock. As a student and early in his career, he was involved in organized veterinary medicine at the state level, serving as Delegate in California Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Massey graduated from veterinary school at U.C. Davis in 2003, and practiced in Sacramento for a few years before moving to San Diego in 2006. In his free time, he enjoys playing outside with his two daughters and Labrador Retriever. Between the girls' sporting events, beach days, and Dr. Massey is camping, hiking, and running events, he tries to stay pretty busy!
Dr. Dodd grew up in central Illninois and graduated from the University of Illinois in 2000. After vet school, she moved to the Chicago suburbs and practiced there for 16 years, where she cultivated her passion for surgery, dentistry, management of chronic disease, and for long term relationships with her clients. She still has contact with some of her very first clients! She has been adopted into many families and attended birthday parties and weddings over the years. Dr. Dodd also worked with several rescue organizations while she was in Chicago, and looks forward to working with SPOT Rescue at FMVH. She enjoyed following pets from the shelters into their forever homes with new loving families. Dr. Dodd has attended advanced training in dentistry and soft tissue surgery. During one of her training sessions, she made a trip to California for the first time. She fell in love with Southern California and two years later she and her husband moved to California. When not with her patients, Dr. Dodd enjoys traveling, going to the beach, and spending time with her husband and their French bulldog Homer.
Dr. Cramer also decided at a young age that he wanted to become a veterinarian. He grew up active in 4-H, raising cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks and horses. He graduated with a BS from Cornell in 1985, and a DVM from Virginia Tech in 1987. He has practiced in North Carolina, Virginia and Washington before moving to California in 2005. Dr. Cramer has owned four veterinary hospitals, including founding FMVH in 2012 before going into retirement in 2016. He has remained active in several rescue groups throughout his career and has fostered over a hundred cats and many dogs. Dr. Cramer lives in Fallbrook with his wife of 29 years, Pia. They have three children, three dogs, four cats, and yes, still have some chickens!
